There is a casuarina forest that stretches along the beach - tropical coniferous trees. You can always relax in their shadow during the first half of the day and move further into the grove as the sun sets down and climbs over the trees.

During high season you will be able to rent sun loungers and umbrellas - it will cost about 100 baht for the whole day. They are spaced out comfortably throughout the beach, so your rest won’t be disturbed by others.

There is also a small Thai restaurant with tables right on the sand. A hot dish will cost about 70-90 baht and a glass of beer - 100 baht.

Walking distance away there are several mini markets, where you can grab light snacks and cold drinks, as well as protection from the sun.

Seasonality, waves

Like the rest of the west coast, Naithon is affected by seasonality. During high season, the sea is gentle, with barely noticeable waves. From April to October, on the other hand, the natural forces unleash - roaring waves crash onto the sand, leaving a foamy mark. During this time, it is favored by kite surfers - the conditions for this sport are ideal!

In high season, the entry into the water is gentle, with a gradual slope, making it comfortable for everyone. Tidal changes here are very prevalent - during low tide, you’ll have to walk 20-30 meters to get into deeper waters.

Who it will suit

Naithons’ popularity can be explained by its proximity to the airport and seclusion from the loud party venues of the island. This part of the island is favored by elderly couples from European countries, seeking comfort and calmness.

If you love exploring the underworld, we recommend acquiring (renting or buying) a mask and fins here and making your way down to the south part of the beach. There are a few coral reefs scattered around here, but finding them isn’t easy. Mask vendors will offer you a map - we recommend getting it, especially if you are new to the snorkeling experience.

During low season Naithon is calm and empty. A few nearby hotels close for this period. There are some days when you won’t see a single person on the beach. Maybe, only a couple of surfers riding the waves.

It should be noted that the highest-rated school on the island is located just 15 minutes from Nathon beach, so if you ever decide to move to Phuket, you should keep this area in mind.

How to get here

From Phuket international airport you can easily get to Naithon on your own transportation or a taxi. The trip will take you around 15 mins, and will cost 300-350 baht. Public transport doesn’t go to Naithon - another reason why this beach is so secluded and calm.

The trip from Phuket town will take around 40 mins, and cost about 500-600 baht for a taxi.
